The principal cast was assembled in October 2013, and principal photography occurred over a period of two months from November to December 2013 in Los Angeles.


After gaining the attention of director Tony Scott, Jake Gyllenhaal starred in the 2012 film “End Of Watch.” His next role is in Nightcrawler (2014), playing Louis Bloom.

Rene Russo has been cast to play Nina, who is a senior worker at a local news station run by director Dan Gilroy. Her character goes out and hunts for the best crime stories in Los Angeles and uses them in her reports. “Nightcrawler” also stars Bill Paxton and Riz Ahmed in supporting roles.

The real main character of the movie is Lou Bloom played by Jake Gyllenhaal where he investigates crime scene footage for pocket money before getting involved with LA’s underground news world.

“Nightcrawler” was screened at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Screenplay in addition to earning Gilroy a nomination for Best Director. It was also screened at Fantastic Fest. The film’s first U.S. screening took place on September 4, 2014, at the Telluride Film Festival, after which Entertainment Weekly published that Gilroy “received a standing ovation following the world premiere of his very dark comedy Nightcrawler.” The score of nightcrawler movie on rotten tomatoes is currently 100% based on 13 reviews.
